What is Angel Food Ministries?
Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing high-quality, low-cost food to families and individuals in communities throughout the United States. The program began with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia in 1994, and has grown to serve tens of thousands of families across the United States. Angel Food Ministries crosses all denominational lines and serves as an excellent tool to share the Gospel of Christ to the community. AFM is a non-profit, volunteer-supported outreach ministry is available monthly through Cicero Christian Church as a host site. Ordering ProcedureBeginning with August, 2009 orders, it is no longer necessary to purchase a signature, senior/convenience or allergen-free box to qualify to purchase a "special." You may purchase any number of any unit or special. Beginning with November 2008 orders, use the following procedure to place orders for Angel Food.
Blessings by the Box…Signature BoxFood from the Angel Food’s menus are sold by the unit at $30 per unit. Each month’s menu consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60 or more. One unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week, or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The food is all the same high quality one would purchase at a common retailer - not damaged or outdated goods. There is no limit to the number of units an individual can purchase, and there are no applications or qualifications. Seniors/Convenience BoxFor people on the go, or those who want convenient, one-serve meals. All ten individual meals are fully-cooked and labeled complete with heating instructions – just heat and serve. Each meal has no added sodium, is low in fat, and is nutritionally balanced for seniors with 3 oz. of protein, two vegetables or fruit, and a starch. $28 per box. One ordered box qualifies for ordering one of the specials offered for the month. Allergen-Free BoxNew in March 2009, the items in this box are processed to eliminate the eight top serious allergens: Peanuts, Soybeans, Milk, Eggs, Fish, Crustacea, Tree Nuts and Gluten (wheat, rye and barley). Great for children and adults! $25 per box. SpecialsEach month several "special" boxes are offered, from steaks for the grill, to an assortment of fruit and vegetables. You are no longer required to place an order for a signature, Senior/Convenience or Allergen-Free box to qualify to order any number of the specials. How the Program WorksFood sales and distribution are handled by church host sites. Cicero Christian Church was approved to be a host site in January, 2008. Orders and payments are collected by the host sites during the first part of each month, then turned in to the Angel Food main office in Monroe, Georgia on a predetermined date. The following week the host site picks up the food from Angel Food’s local distribution center to fill the orders on distribution day. In some cases, food can be delivered to the host site (we must have at least 700 units ordered to qualify for delivery to our host site).
